Training and Events:
Throughout the year MPRC sponsors and facilitates trainings and events throughout the state.  Most notably are the Program Sharing Conference and the ATOD (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs) Regional Forums.

In addition, MPRC partners with other organizations to plan events that build a greater capacity around substance abuse prevention.  Partners have included Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota; Hennepin County; Minnesota Organization on Adolescent Pregnancy, Prevention & Parenting; Minnesota Department of Health; and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.

MPRC also helps assist in the provision of trainings for substance abuse prevention professionals.  Previous trainings have included:

  • Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training (SAPST)
  • Walking the Talk
  • Ethics
  • Cultural Competence
  • Wellness
  • Clergy
  • Data gathering and using statistics

If you have a specific training need, please contact us about making it possible in your area.

Research Services
MPRC has an on-staff Prevention Research Specialist (librarian) who helps fulfill research requests.  A sample of questions received include:

  • What’s the relationship between meth use and Parkinson’s disease?
  • What are the economic costs of underage drinking in Minnesota?
  • Where can I go to find information for parents on how to talk to their kids about drugs?

Our library has access to books, training manuals, articles, and journals. The Prevention Research Specialist can assist with finding materials regarding research, grants, and other ATOD resources.
