About

Local Minnesota communities are at the forefront of emerging commercial tobacco control strategies. Attendees will gain an understanding of the history of commercial tobacco control policy and the basic legal framework for popular local public policies, including: restrictions on the sale of flavored tobacco products, raising the minimum legal sales age to 21, and language that covers and regulates emerging products that you may have seen in the news, like JUUL.
The Public Health Law Center offers this CLE to help prepare city and county attorneys to respond to requested policy work and ordinance drafting in their respective jurisdictions. Presentations will also cover recent tobacco and nicotine evidence-base to support the implementation of progressive policies, resources from the Minnesota Department of Health, and a concise overview of relevant tobacco-related litigation from around the country. The Public Health Law Center will also walk through its recently-updated Minnesota city and county model tobacco licensing ordinances.

Limited space is available so advanced registration is required.

This event is free. Boxed lunch and refreshments will be provided at no cost to attendees registered by Dec. 12th.
