About

When nonprofits are involved in legislative advocacy, they have an opportunity to advance their missions through long-term, systemic change. However, navigating the process can be challenging and confusing.

Join MCN at the State Capitol to fill your tool box to be a strong advocate and impress your boss. You’ll understand lobbying rules, learn how a bill becomes a law, get a tour of the Capitol, and learn how to have an effective meeting with a legislator.

You don’t need to previous advocacy or policy experience to attend this training. We know that the best advocates are often not policy professionals. They are the accountants crunching the financials behind the scenes, fundraisers educating the public about our work, program directors working on the front lines, in addition to volunteers and donors. Their experience tells the stories that mobilize people to action, including policymakers.
